Hamilton tops Bahrain GP second practice
Lewis Hamilton set the pace in the second practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The seven-time world champion was fastest under the floodlights at the Sakhir circuit, edging out Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by just 0.096 seconds.
Hamilton’s Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas finished third, ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez.
The Mercedes driver showed impressive pace in both short and long-run simulations, suggesting he will be a strong contender for victory in Sunday’s race.
Verstappen, however, remains a threat, with Red Bull looking competitive in the desert heat.
The Dutchman was quickest in the first practice session on Friday, and will be hoping to convert his speed into a strong result this weekend.
The battle between Mercedes and Red Bull looks set to be a thrilling one throughout the season, with both teams pushing each other to the limits.
