Man jailed after discovery of £2m Gloucester cannabis factory
A man has been sentenced to prison after a £2 million cannabis factory was discovered in Gloucester. The factory, which was found in a derelict industrial unit, contained over 2,000 plants and was described as a “sophisticated operation” by police.
The man, who was identified as the ringleader of the operation, was arrested at the scene and later charged with production of a Class B drug. He appeared in court where he pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to two years in prison.
Police have praised the work of officers in dismantling the operation and have warned that they will continue to crack down on drug-related crime in the area. Gloucester’s Chief Superintendent commented, “This was a significant find and shows the dedication of our officers in tackling drug-related crime.”
The discovery of the cannabis factory has sparked concerns about the prevalence of drug production in the area, with calls for increased vigilance from members of the public. Police have urged anyone with information about drug-related activity to come forward and report it.
