Partner of Woman Held in Russia Calls for Her Release
The partner of a woman who has been held in Russia for several weeks has called for her immediate release and for her to be allowed to return home.
The woman, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, was detained by Russian authorities while visiting the country for a work-related trip. She has been accused of espionage, a claim that her partner vehemently denies.
Speaking to reporters outside the Russian embassy, the woman’s partner said, “My partner is a dedicated humanitarian worker who has never been involved in any kind of espionage. This is a grave injustice and I urge the Russian government to release her immediately.”
The partner also called on the international community to put pressure on Russia to release the woman and allow her to return home to her loved ones.
It remains to be seen whether the Russian government will respond to these calls for the woman’s release, but her partner and supporters are determined to continue fighting for her freedom.
