Derby: Controlled explosion after suspected WW2 device found in river
Authorities in Derby were forced to carry out a controlled explosion after a suspected World War 2 device was found in a river.
The device was discovered by a group of children who were playing near the river when they spotted something unusual in the water.
Police were called to the scene and quickly identified the object as a potential explosive device from the Second World War.
As a precaution, the area was evacuated and a bomb disposal unit was called in to safely detonate the device.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported and the controlled explosion was successful in neutralizing the threat.
