Meta forms team to stop AI from tricking voters
With the rise of artificial intelligence and its potential to manipulate public opinion, Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has announced the formation of a special team dedicated to preventing AI from tricking voters.
The team, comprised of experts in AI and cybersecurity, will work to identify and combat any attempts by malicious actors to use AI algorithms to deceive voters or spread misinformation during elections.
Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, stated, “We take the integrity of our platform and the democratic process very seriously. By proactively addressing the potential misuse of AI technology, we hope to protect the sanctity of elections and ensure that voters are able to make informed decisions.”
This initiative comes in response to growing concerns about the influence of AI on political outcomes, particularly in light of recent incidents involving the use of AI-generated deepfake videos and misinformation campaigns to sway voters.
As the 2022 midterm elections draw closer, Meta’s new team will play a crucial role in safeguarding the democratic process and upholding the integrity of the electoral system.
