RNLI at 200: Saving lives ‘still our core purpose’
On the bicentenary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), the charity reaffirms its commitment to saving lives at sea as its core purpose. Established in 1824, the RNLI has been a vital part of the UK’s coastal communities, providing life-saving services to those in need.
Speaking on the occasion, the RNLI’s CEO said, “Our mission remains unchanged after 200 years – to save lives at sea. The dedication and bravery of our volunteers and staff continue to make a real difference in keeping people safe on the water.”
The RNLI operates a fleet of lifeboats, lifeguards, and safety education programs to prevent drowning and water-related accidents. Over the years, the organization has saved countless lives and continues to be a beacon of hope for those in distress at sea.
As they celebrate their 200th anniversary, the RNLI looks forward to continuing their life-saving work and making a positive impact on coastal communities for many years to come.
